5 Ways To Practice Sustainability With Grove Collaborative

I remember when I started using Grove Collaborative, it was so I could make sure my household essentials, specifically for cleaning, were always stocked and within my budget. However, over the course of being a Grove Collaborative customer, my shopping habits have evolved in a way that supports a more sustainable lifestyle.

What does it mean to practice sustainability?

The short & simple answer: making decisions that will benefit us now, without being a detriment to future generations.

I don't pretend to be the most environmentally conscious person, so starting the practice of sustainability at home has been about exactly that -- our home. What can I do to make sure we're not creating more waste... more work? What changes can we make that I literally sustainable over the long term.

Grove Collaborative started out as a destination for "healthier home essentials" which was exactly what I needed, especially with a mini at home that wanted to touch all the things all the time. But just like I've evolved, so have they. Grove Collaborative has made a commitment, well, to the planet... from selling clean, natural products to using recycled materials & packaging. This commitment is evident is their product assortment, which has made my transition to sustainability truly effortless.

So what are 5 ways Grove Collaborative has helped me and can help you practice sustainability?

Clean & Natural Home Products

Up until Grove Collaborative, I purchased my cleaning from nay store that sold cleaning products, with no real rhyme or reason. By the time we had baby girl, however, I did start to be a little more mindful of the products, specially the ingredients. I don't know that I'll ever exclusively use homemade, natural cleaning products, but making the choice to use clean brands was really important to me as a mom.

Containers & Dispensers For Decanting

If we're being completely honest with one another, this is more about aesthetic than it is about sustainability, but it's def a win-win no matter the motivation. In any area of the house that I can decant & get rid of excess packaging, I do. Because Grove Collaborative sells dispensers for everything from hand soap to detergent, in addition to the refill, I'm able to minimize the waste that I'm accumulating with purchases.

Reusable versus Disposable Alternatives

Along the same lines of using of vessels for decanting, I also realized that there were other ways that I could minimize waste -- reusing instead of disposing. Using wool dryer balls instead of dryer sheets. Using European dish cloths instead of paper towels. All of these small changes were because I now had access to products I previously didn't even know existed... all through Grove Collaborative.

Flexible Shopping Schedule

While Grove Collaborative is, in effect, a subscription service, you don't have to have the VIP membership to take advantage of the shopping. You can tailor your shipments to suit your needs... be it on a recurring monthly schedule or just as needed. This is especially helpful in making sure you're always stocked & not making last minute panic purchases at the store.

Access To Multiple Brands, Multiple Categories

Aura Cacia. Full Circle. Method. Mrs. Meyer's. Seventh Generation. Shea Moisture. Stasher. These were all brands I knew & shopped long before I knew Grove Collaborative, however, I did so across multiple retailers. Now all my old favorites are in the same place with new discoveries, at prices that are often better than other retailers.
