Kitchen Accessories Shopping Guide: Gold & Brass

ORIGINAL POST DATE: 02-23-2021

I remember when I did my very first kitchen accessories guide, it was partly to help you guys with your own shopping & partly to satisfy my own love of digital window shopping. But this time it’s different. For my own kitchen reno, in addition to wood, white, and black accessories, I’ve been shopping gold & brass accessories to complete the design.

Even though the design for the renovation has evolved quite a bit, one constant has been a thread of gold/brass hues. Now to be clear, I am under no delusion that gold & brass are interchangeable… but in the kitchen, I’m playing by slightly different rules. While there isn’t anything wrong with mixing metals, it’s all about creating a visual and spatial balance so that the threading makes sense… and not look like a jumbled hot mess.

Because our kitchen design is primarily black & white, incorporating a mix of gold & brass elevates the contrasting design…

A lil dazzle dazzle…

It’s been 3 months since we complete the kitchen renovation, yet, that hasn’t stopped me from browsing the inter webs for kitchen eye candy — not that I’m actually shopping… just window shopping, now with an eye of pleasure not set to purpose of purchase. In that time, I’ve come across so many more pieces that can truly elevate to the design of any kitchen — adding more than just razzle dazzle…adding subtle elegance.

Even though most of these are already in my cart, I haven’t pulled the trigger, since I want to see the larger pieces in place first — last thing I need is a class of the metals happening in the kitchen. Once the countertops & backsplash are installed — read all about that progress here — I’ll be able to see how the “tuxedo” design really comes together, then make my final choices.

In the meantime, I’ve got some nice decor eye candy to tide me over.
