Kitchen Accessories Shopping Guide: Wood

ORIGINAL POST DATE: 03-26-2020

Spring is HERE!!

Never did I ever expect that this is how we would be ushering in a new season — social distancing and under quarantine — but that doesn’t make the new season any less welcome! As we slowly transition our homes (and wardrobes from the colder months) I realize that for some of us, it may be a very jarring experience to go straight from winter decor to full on spring aka lighter tones and brighter hues.

Wood is a great transitional option, especially in the kitchen, as it denotes the warmth of winter decor but also (depending on the finish) can also reflect the “hominess” of spring. So for my latest (and first of 2020) installment of my kitchen color guide, let’s shop some wood!

Even before our kitchen renovation began, I knew that the kitchen design needed to include wood elements, aka one of the major tenets of a hygge inspired design ethos. Using wood in a space — from oak to walnut — adds a natural warmth to the space, no matter the palette… in our case, a black & white “tuxedo” designed kitchen punctuated with warm walnut shelves & variegated wood accessories.

Because wood isn’t a color, it can be a year round (and timeless) addition to any kitchen design.
