One Room Challenge Week 3: What's In My Cart?

ICYMI...

Last week I shared my design intentions for the flex lounge... and I say intentions because things are always liable to change...

In starting this project, I've already resolved to spend as little as possible, even resisting the urge to buy all the organizing things is harder than you'd imagine. There are things I need and then there are the things that I want. My very rough draft shopping list includes…

• a new desk for more surface area

• a new ergonomic desk chair

• a proper place for our printer (and maybe even a new printer eventually)

• wall storage for the mini

• contained storage for fitness equipment

• paper organization

And within the aforementioned list, things get a bit more detailed and itemized... a wishlist of sorts depending on what direction the design ends up taking.

Although it's not on the list now (because there's just no feasible way) for the longest I didn't contemplate trying to sneak a seating area into this space. After some careful thought the, the idea was tossed -

(1) the media room is LITERALLY right next door - we can sit there

(2) real estate in this room is already limited & a seating area is hardly a priority

Another design element that we're still figuring out is finally adding a door to the laundry room, in addition to a door to separate the flex space from the media room. When we did the laundry room renovation, it was always with the intention of having doors installed. Once we opened up the space, we realized the best solution would likely be a custom door... but this project just wasn't very high on our priority list because neither seeing nor hearing the laundry bothered us (we have gorgeous laundry appliances & they're surprisingly quiet). As for a door between the flex & media rooms - this is an idea we've tossed around more than a few times just to have a barrier option if someone's watching a movie while someone else is working. Again... not a priority so we've never really fleshed out the details.

A few things are already for certain in this space though...

I partnered with Formica again - the counters from our kitchen renovation are Everform™ Solid Surface by Formica Corporation - to create a work station & surface area for the mini. I won't be giving away too many details on this just yet but you guys... I am so very, very happy I worked with them to make formerly basic pieces a lot more custom & functional.

I also partnered with iDesign once again in this space to create a fitness station, repurposed one of their storage pieces to accommodate my unorthodox needs. If you're following me over on IG - as you already should be - then you've already spotted the first itineration of this zone... an "Easter egg" of sorts from months passed.

So what all is in my cart for flex lounge?

Will everything in my cart end up in the final design? Absolutely not. I'm still deliberating and measuring... all while also actively using the space everyday. I have a starting point for what I want and what I need, and how I want it all to look - visually - and I've just been filing up my cart accordingly. LOL. Don't worry tho... in the coming days I'll remaking some final decisions to so everything can get here in the next 2-3 weeks *fingers crossed*
