Shop With Me: Black, White, and Gold Christmas Round Up
Can I just say that I am hella geeked but also hella nervous to have our first winter holidays in the new house! All the feels!
It's so funny because I seem to have a habit of moving RIGHT before the holidays — nearly every major move in my has been in the Fall — so I always find myself pressed for time to get myself together to decorate and celebrate. Of course 2020 wouldn't be any different. I'm geeked because, duh, new house; but nervous because decisions have to be made & I don't know that I have the time or bandwidth to make em.
We bought our very first Christmas tree as a family 4 years ago when we moved to WA and it's the same tree we've used ever since. A year prior, the year our daughter was born, my mom gave us her old mini tree for our studio apartment and that was the first tree we EVER had as a family. I say all oof that to say that having a house now means we could go as big (or as small) as we want with decorating -- from multiple trees to wreaths on the windows to lawn decor!
SO. MANY. DECISIONS.
Aside from general decision fatigue and angst, all of these decisions come with a literal price tag, and we have a TON of other expenses to prioritize (design plan post coming soon!).
The holiday styling & decorating I envision for the house could easily run us a couple hundred of bucks and in the grand scheme of things, it's just not that serious for us... at least not right not.
Remember when I talked about saying no to project pressure over on Emily Henderson's blog? Yeah... this is one of those projects I'll likely have to say no to because the alternative would be rushing & doing a half-assed job at what I had in mind, or going balls to the wall & spending an exorbitant amount of money less than 90 days into our home ownership journey. That would be less than smart on our part considering the plans we have. BUT... that has NOT stopped me from window shopping and oogling everything that I would get, in a perfect world.
In a perfect world, I'd love to trade in my hues of blue, white, and silver winter wonderland for a more dramatic black, white, and gold (with hints of silver). Our current tree is white — 6' I think — and ideally, I would move that tree downstairs to our study. In the living/dining area I would have a 9' all black tree, like the Tuxedo Black Christmas Tree from Treetopia, or even their Basics Black Tree... def 2021 goals! As for trimmings, I'd keep both trees pretty tone on tone, with a lot of the accents making an appearance in other areas, like out mantle and wrappings under the tree — I don't know that I'm ever going to commit to lawn decor... but who knows what next holiday season will hold.
Since I haven't committed to not doing anything this year, I have been collecting product ideas and keeping a running list of what I'd like to buy... be it now or later.
Here's what's in my cart...
Do you have a Christmas "theme" in mind? A color scheme you're going with? Or have you already done you're decorating — p.s. I'm not that girl — and you've been enjoying your tree since the clock struck midnight on November 1st. Lemme know and I'll keep you guys posted on what we decide to do next.
