Living Room Update: We Moved!
No you didn't read wrong... my living room update is that we moved! LOL. In case you missed it, I announced on Instagram that my husband and I bought out first home! And that is LITERALLY what happened to the living room.
Let's rewind...
3 months ago, I started my living room refresh and I shared the plans with you guys. The refresh started out just fine — we patched up some holes, put furniture in storage to free up space, hung new lighting & drapery, and the project even spilled over into the dining room when I made the decision to convert it into a study. At that point all that was left was for me to receive my furniture — it was slated for around now actually. That delay ended up working out in our favor. While our home buying journey is another story for another time, I can tell you that in August — when I started the living room — it isn't something I thought would be a reality for at least another year.
L'homme propose. Dieu dispose.
Translation: man plans, God decides.
And He decided we were to be homeowners NOW!
A month after started the refresh we started the home buying process — meeting with our realtor just to understand the process and our options — yet, after a roller coaster ride of events, less than 2 months later, we were signing and closing on our first home.
Mind. Still. Blown.
But like I said... that's another story for another day.
So what about the living room?
Having to wait for the furniture anyway was truly a blessing in disguise — just update the shipping address! Because the choices I made were made with the future in mind, the entire design translates perfectly to the new house — finishes, scale, everything! Are there other things that'll need to happen to get the living room tip top ready? Yes. We want to paint, change the flooring, and a few other things... but legit, all of that can wait because WE OWN THE HOUSE!
As of writing this, we finally have a scheduled delivery date for the furniture and I don't even have the words to express my excitement. As a refresher, here's the design in it's most current form... a few minor updates over the past 3 months but still... the design's the same… well kinda.
Things evolve… and that’s okay!
Talk about an update for reals... most people just change their furniture for a refresh LOL. Once all of my emotions settle from the past few weeks — so many emotions, so little time — I'll be sharing more real time behind the scenes because this'll also be the first time y'all will get to see me decorate "from scratch". Holy smokes... ya'll are really coming in at the beginning! Can't wait for you to see what I do next... shoot, I can't wait to see what I do next lol.
