Entryway Essentials with The Container Store

When we bought the house, there was very little in terms of the footprint that we took issue with. The layout of the house is actually what we loved most about to because it was perfectly compartmentalized for the way we wanted to live - walls where we wanted em & no walls where we didn't... well with the exception of the wall separating the kitchen & the dining room. The only thing that proved to be a real problem for us was that there was no mudroom off the garage and no foyer off the front door.

We needed to find a proper place for our outerwear, footwear, and accessories as we would come in & out of the house.

For the garage, since it's not our main entrance point, we purchased a hall tree. The front door was more of a challenge since we use it on a daily basis, multiple times a day.

The Container Store Brand Ambassador

A lifetime of rearranging my spaces + helping other people with theirs taught me that no matter how beautifully designed a space, it's all for naught if not organization. The pretty facade will fade without organized systems in place. I wanted to create designs that my clients could sustain.

I don't do client work anymore but I apply those same principles to the content I create & the how I design my own home... which is also why The Container Store has long been one of my favorite shopping destinations for all things storage & organization for every nook & cranny of our home... and long before buying house.

Needless to say, when I got the email a few weeks ago that I'd been chosen for this year's class of brand ambassadors for The Container Store...I squealed!

Shop With Me: What's In My The Container Store Cart... For The Kitchen?

You guys! I don't what's taken up more of my time these past couple of weeks... renovations or organization. If you don't know this about me yet, I love organization... so much so that I even considered adding organization services to my e-design packages.

The great thing about renovating the kitchen is that it's given me a chance to control nearly every detail of every surface, giving me a sort of clean slate when it comes to organizing. For so long I've had to work around what was already there and now that it was a design of my making, the storage solutions could be just right.

How I Purged Using The Home Market On Poshmark

Last summer I found myself in the middle of probably my biggest purge since moving — except we weren’t moving. I got to a point where I got tired of seeing “stuff” at every turn — from the clothes in my closet to the decor in my mantle — so I started pulling things out to trash, sell, or donate…

Enter Poshmark!

I was able to list small kitchen appliances, dinnerware, and decorative accents and I felt so much better about being able to pass these items onto someone who wanted em but could now get them at a fraction of the cost; and while I love being able to donate, it didn’t hurt that I could make a little play money in the process.

Building A Capsule Wardrobe When You Stop Working From Home

After my daughter was born, it wasn’t long before I became an accidental stay at home mom. I eventually transitioned into a work from home mom, juggling growing an interior design business with raising a whole new human.

While I’d heard the term tossed around a few times, and was intrigued, I’d never really put any thought into creating one for myself...till now. I didn’t want to fund a brand new wardrobe that I’d toss and replace again. I didn’t want to buy things on a whim. I didn’t want to replace the things that I clearly kept for a reason. I just wanted a complete assortment. Also mindful of changes my body would be going through, I knew I had to be intentional and creating a capsule would be the best way to go about that.

Organizing My Life By Organizing My Home

People always ask me why I am so organized and while the answer is usually pretty funny, it’s the truth — I’m organized because I’m lazy. My life is filled with chaos and just a lot that is beyond my control, be it personally or professionally, so getting organized it my way of controlling the controllable… no matter how small.

Behind The Design: Organizing My Pantry

When we moved into this condo in Spring 2017, one of the very first things we were thrilled to have was an actual pantry! Prior to this, we’d had really good storage in our kitchens — our studio apartment in NYC had WAY more cabinets than we ever used and our first apartment in WA had a tall pantry cabinet — but this was the first time we had an actual step-in pantry and we were geeked! My husband cooks, I clean, and it’s a glorious arrangement for us. With that, it meant he now had a place to hoard store all his culinary things, while for me it was a place to organize… a win-win all around.

One Room Challenge Week 5: When E-Design Meets Full-Service Interior Design & Organization

Holy Moly Canoli…One week to go!!! And OMG!!! What a couple of days it was! It was a perfect reminder that some progress is better than no progress — the magic is in the editing, not in the perfection. The beauty of e-design is that it doesn’t have to stop here — I can consult with her on the next phase of what she’s ready to tackle, whenever she’s ready, with a quick video conference. But with the bulk of the transformation completed by yours truly, the space already feels less overwhelming and daunting. She can now start to feel confident in her home and be at peace knowing that her stuff isn’t working against — it’s working for her. It’s Design Therapy!
